CCaaS stands for Contact Center as a Service. It is contact center software delivered from the cloud: the vendor runs the infrastructure, the business pays a subscription, and agents and administrators use it through the internet. Routing, IVR, digital channels, reporting, and increasingly artificial intelligence (AI) features all come as part of the platform.<\/p>\n

A traditional on-premise contact center means buying, hosting, and maintaining the hardware and software yourself. Upgrades are projects; capacity is fixed in advance.<\/p>\n
With CCaaS, the vendor maintains the platform and ships updates continuously. Capacity scales up and down with demand, which is why seasonal and fast-growing operations moved to it first. The trade-off is dependence on the vendor\u2019s roadmap, uptime, and pricing.<\/p>\n

The two are often confused because both are cloud communication services. UCaaS, Unified Communications as a Service, covers how employees communicate with each other: calls, meetings, messaging. CCaaS covers how a business handles customer interactions at scale: queues, routing, agents, and service metrics.
